Let's talk luxury cars!

We have this vehicle that has an obscene screeching sound. When I say obscene, I mean super high pitched and continuous. ( I thought I had a video with it on it, but I guess I never saved it :( )

For us to get to the part that is causing that screeching sound, we had to take off the supercharger, disassemble a ton of little parts, hoses and wires. This part on a non-luxury car would have only taken about a couple of hours TOTAL between disassembly and assembly. Usually it sits on a part of the engine that can be accessed in a quicker time frame. Also, the part is a fraction of the price. The vehicle we have in here we are working on, took a couple hours of JUST to disassemble. This is why luxury cars cost more - the part is more expensive than that of a non-luxury, as well as the labor time over double.

The car we are working on was actually a car that I wanted when the kids take mine at the end of the year, but looking at how expensive and time consuming - I have reconsidered 🤣. Don't get me wrong, still a beautiful car! But think about the cost of regular maintenance - and also the cost if something breaks. Just some food for thought 😉 Get that car! Just be prepared for the costs that go with it.

When you are getting prices from mechanics, it is the cost of labor - the time it takes us to work on the vehicle as well as the cost of the part. As a business, we prefer to get parts that were made for your vehicle - OEM parts. Yes, the retail store has "longer warranty" but because their parts fail more often. The OEM parts have a shorter warranty because they know their part won't fail - or more unlikely to fail. They were built from the manufacturer. They were made for your vehicle.

A comparison: Louis Vuitton vs the "knockoff" styles. Both look amazing, both work. Louis Vuitton has a warranty on their items. If it frays, you can take it in. The seams line up perfectly so it all blends together and the leather is meant to last. The knockoff looks great too! But the lines aren't seamless and if it tears, there is no warranty. It may last a long time, but it doesn't match the rest of the styles. We prefer the longevity and the way it fits. I'm sure there is a better comparison, but this was the one that pops in my head the quickest.
